2:35EST - HAPPY 4TH FROM EMULATION TIMES!

HAPPY AMERICA 250!!! Want to wish everyone a very happy and special independence day. It's been 250 years and we still don't have Half Life 3. Fortunately, I am proud to announce a fully updated software archive!

  • I want to start off by stating my apologies for taking so long on this section of the website. I know it took longer than anticipated, but life gets in the way sometimes. I wanted to make sure I produced something that was easy to navigate and full of valuable information. Creating a search feature that could handle the growing size of the website was important. While it isn't the quality of 2008 Google devs, I think it works fine for what I'm trying to build.

  • Let's get into specifics. The Software Archive is full of different software sections. While I may add more in the future, I think the ones I have added will suffice for now. Software sections may include different subsections. The Data Recovery and Restoration section has recovery discs and imaging tools. I wanted people to easily narrow down what they are looking for. If you know something specific that you need, instead of just browsing, use the search bar. The first piece of software to hit the archive is one that I wanted to publish for a while, but my scanner broke and I had to get a new one. The Tandy 3200 recovery disc is now archived and published for everyone! It was a quick rip, and I got to test out the new scanner. To my knowledge, the Tandy 3200 recovery disc has never been archived anywhere, so this is not only a first for me but a first for everyone. I hope someone gets great use out of the rip. I included scans of every page in the insert booklet that contains the recovery steps, as well as some other interesting facts about what is included on the disc

4:41EST - Heavy Construction Underway at Emulation Times

You can probably tell that Emulation Times isn't the most up to date right now. Since the website is being rebuilt from an Archive.org snapshot, many adjustments still need to be made. However, I`m working day and night to update the web interface so everyone can have a smooth and flawless experience.

  • Implementation of a Search engine with deep link features so you can easily find something such as software. For example searching for a specific Operating System. This eliminates the need to search through endless lists of software.

  • One of the most innovative updates is a Software Archive. This is where all rips of software will be archived. However, there is a strict verification process for uploading your own software. All software will be run through Anti-Malware services such as Virus-Total to make sure software will not be harmful to the end users. Every piece of software has to be LEGAL. If you want to upload ILLEGAL software go to another website of your choice and have the time of your life!!! While I may not agree with strict copyright laws and I am a major advocate of FOSS, I don't want any legal trouble and would like the website to thrive.

  • An FAQ section as well as a Forum section is in production and will be released within the coming days to weeks. I'm a one man show and code everything myself. If you have any suggestions for things you would like to see feel free to email me at [email protected]

The website is in its infancy and all support is appreciated. Thank you!

3:45EST - Welcome Back to Emulation Times

So I will try and make this short and simple. This site was started by my late father, who unfortunately passed away in 2022. He had an immense passion for computers and emulation, a truly amazing person who taught me everything he knew about how they worked.

In the past 24 years, a lot has changed. Nearly three generations of consoles, massive expansion of computing power, and huge changes to emulation as we know it. Nintendo's copyright enforcement has made it near impossible to have legal ports of their games and systems. As a result, Nintendo emulation and subsequent emulators will be restricted to purely the emulators themselves — no ROM download links.

Links to emulator projects like MAME will be provided, and daily emulation news will be published. The site will also serve as a platform for my own archival and preservation purposes. I want this site to be open for people to submit their own legal software rips. Additionally, the site will contain sections for archiving non-computer-related items such as scans of records, compact discs, laserdiscs, and more.

I hope everyone will enjoy the project I'm trying to build upon. Thank you!
