MAME for RISC OS Updated Gareth Long has just released version 0.34 Beta 6.1 of his RiscOS (ARM) port of MAME. http://www.elecslns.demon.co.uk/MAME/ 7800 Tech Request As everyone knows, Dan Boris has been working on an Atari 7800 driver for MESS. Although he's made some great progress (checkout the new screenshot below), he's at a bit of a standstill and has asked: "I am looking for anyone who has tried (and succeeded) is reading in 7800 carts. The reader I built had no problem with Pole Position but it is acting very flaky with other carts. I can't get much further on my MESS driver without some more ROM images to work with." If you can help Dan, you can
contact him at [email protected].
Currently, there is not one single publicly released Atari 7800 emulator.
MESS would be the first.
![]() NSFE Progress Report Here's the latest word from Gordon Hollingworth on the status of his Nintendo 64 emulator: "Currently the OpenGL graphics core is being written. The October release has been postponed for a short time due to a few major bugs found in the software. We (myself and Ben Marsh) want to hold off release until we can deliver something stable and worthwhile to everyone who is waiting for the emu." Also, Gordon has a little request.
He seems to remember someone making an unsupported Direct/X 5.0 driver
library for Window NT 4.0 a while back. If anyone knows anything about
this, please contact Gordon.
Thanks.

M72 / System 16 Author Interviewed Steve Jones has conducted an interview with Li Jih Hwa of M72 Arcade Emulator and System 16 fame. http://www.backyard.u-net.com/ More Emulation Stuff in Next Gen Mag After reading the Playstation emulation article in November's issue of Next Generation magazine, I soon disovered something else. None other than ClassicGaming's very own Kevin Bowen was featured in the Letters section (page 167). For those that don't know, Kevin is the Editor-in-Chief\Site Director for ClassicGaming.com. Enjoy your 15 minutes, Kev. ;) PSyKe in Next Gen Mag Those of you who received the November issue of Next Generation in the mail today should turn to page 4. Their number one story for the month is about (you guessed it!) emulation. Specifically, it mentions PSyKe and the possibility that it could be ported over to Sega's Dreamcast system. One thing they did hint at which I would like to say outright here is that if anything, emulators can actually increase sales for CD-ROM based systems. This is because most of the money companies like Sony make is from software, not hardware: "Hardware has long been the least profitable end of any console's business model, and so, from a financial viewpoint, the emulator ought to have very little effect on Sony." - Next Generation
Since very few people (if any) would actually download a complete PlayStation game over the 'net (aka World Wide Wait), software sales could actually increase from working, fully playable Playstation emulators. Snes9x for Amiga Updated Jesper Svennevid has released version 1.10a of his Snes9x port for Amiga computers: "This beta is compiled with full optimizations and also has CD32 joypad support! Keys are: A - RED, B - BLUE, X - GREEN, Y - YELLOW, TL - REVERSE, TR - FORWARD, START - PLAY Then I ran out of buttons so SELECT is still only space :P " Looking for Jaguar Info _DrMario_, author of a Phoenix arcade emulator is looking into emulating the Atari Jaguar. If anyone has any tech info, he would greatly appreciate the help. You can contact him at [email protected]. RPGe Secret Message Discovered Mark Twain once remarked that rumors of his death were "greatly exaggerated". Well, it appears RPGe isn't quite as dead as we might have feared either. The final message was short, but to the point: "I was in a very destructive mood, so I've decided to shut down RPGe. If you're going to complain, complain to those people who didn't read our feedback page before sending e-mail. Complain to those people who continuously sent me e-mail saying, "please translate ____" or asking "how do I apply a patch"... Complain to those people who STILL send me e-mail telling me that I don't update my site often enough. This is a HOBBY, for god's sake! ... I know I sound like a jerk but I've had enough." Thanks to Bl00dY NoSe for the e-mail. M72 0.33b Released! Li Jih Hwa has released version 0.33b of his M72 Arcade Emulator. Here's what's new:
